Michael Judge of Q Club topped the Republic of Ireland Billiards and Snooker Association Snooker Senior Rankings in 2017-18 with 455 points, 40 ahead of nearest challenger Rodney Goggins of Liam Mellows Club, with Davy Morris of Kilkenny Shed a further 40 points back. Reference: [8]. The triumph for Judge came after two years in succession finishing third in the rankings followed by two more years in succession as runner-up. Reference: [4-7].

Recap

Aaron Hill (Crucible) finished top of the RIBSA Republic of Ireland Billiards and Snooker Association Snooker Senior Rankings in 2018-19 by a slender 3 Merit Points after both Hill and Brendan O’Donohue finished level on Points with 440 each. Both had won two Tournaments, but Aaron Hill had finished higher in the Championships. Robert Murphy of Q Club wicklow took third spot with 400 Ranking Points, and Davy Morris (Kilkenny Shed, fourth) and Josh Boileau (Newbridge CYMS, fifth) both won tournaments also.

Recap

Brendan O’Donohue (New Institute) finished top of the RIBSA Republic of Ireland Snooker and Billiards Association Snooker Senior Rankings in 2019-20 for the second time in four years with a points tally of 400 (86 Merits), including three tournament victories out of five tournaments played. He finished a full 100 points ahead of Rodney Goggins (now playing for Liam Mellows) in second, who had been Number 1 Ranked in 2011-12 and 2014-15. Goggins had won one tournament. Third place went to Davy Morris of Kilkenny Shed who finidshed with 260 points and one tournament victory for 59 Merit Points, just one Merit Point ahead of fourth placed Greg Casey of Crucible who also finished on 260 points.

Ranking Leaders 2011-12 to 2019-20

Recap

The Republic of Ireland Snooker and Billliards Association Snooker Senior Rankings Leader for 2011-12 to 2019-20 featured seven different end of year leaders from six clubs over the nine year span before the arrival of the COVID-19 Virus Pandemic and the lockdown which ceased all sport in Ireland [1-9]. Following the lockdown of 2020-21 RIBSA merged with its’ Northern Ireland counterpart to form Snooker and Billiards Ireland.

Brendan O’Donoghue of New Institute Snooker Club in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary and Rodney Goggins of 147 Wexford both finished top of the rankings twice – Goggins in 2011-12 and 2014-15 [1, 4] and O’Donoghue in 2016-17 and 2019-20 [6, 9]. New Institute was also the Club of 2012-13 Ranking Leader David Hogan [2]. Other Ranking Leaders were Martin McCrudden of Celbridge in 2013-14 [3]; Jason Devaney of Deel Rovers in 2015-16 [5] ; Michael Judge of Q Club in 2017-18 [7]; and Aaron Hill of Crucible in 2018-19 [8].

The Best Ranking Score using the system in place until 2014-15 was Rodney Goggins with a Points tally of 970 that year [1-4]. Under the new Tournaments Points Scoring system in place from 2015-16 onwards the top score was Brendan O’Donoghue’s 540 (91 Merits) in 2016-17 [5-9].
