Report

Ireland started brightly in this Division B Qualifying Group, only losing by 2 Points to Switzerland and after a big loss at home to Romania they won 76-70 at home to Cyprus. 2007 was to be much less encouraging, with a big home loss (58-86) to Switzrland, where they might have thought they had a chance of winning given their previos match with the Swiss, before a 10-point loss to Romania, and then a 5-point loss to Cyprus, leaving Ireland with a 1-5 Record for the Group.

About

Report

This was to be Ireland’s last International outing until 2016, as Basketball Ireland put the National Program on hold to facilitate paying off the €1.4 Million debt it had accrued.

Ireland won two matches against Luxembourg, but otherwise had a disappointing campaign, losing all other 6 matches, only really coming close against Slovakia (two 7-point losses.).
